NFL Super Bowl winning Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts, Tony Dungy highlighted the '2009 Rally for Rocketown' held on October 20 in Lipscomb's Allen Arena. Rocketown is a local skate park, music venue, and spiritual center that exists to serve Nashville's youth who are looking for clean alternative entertainment.
Prior to Dungy delivering the keynote address, Martina McBride entertained the crowd. Tennessee Titans Head Coach Jeff Fisher introduced his good friend and colleague Tony Dungy. After Dungy's message, Michael W. Smith, the event's emcee introduced Vince Gill who performed an original song written by Gill. The event was closed by Former Titan Chris Sanders leading the crowd in a prayer. Dungy then went 'one on one' with several hundred high school students in McQuiddy Gym, delivering his 'Take a Knee Program.' His message was one of love of God, personal responsibility, individual integrity, and respect for your fellowman.
DLHS thanks the supporters of Rocketown who provided over 100 tickets for Lipscomb students and staff members to attend the event.
